Day for seeing old friends

Yesterday, we were to meet some of my old nursing school friends. We met at Mario's restaurant and reviewed our lives since our last meeting. Brinda and I try to see each other at least once or twice a year. Cyndi and I have not seen each other in several years.

We spent over two hours in the restaurant, then drove over to Cyndi's house to continue our visiting. We had a great time.

Earlier, Brenda received a call from one of her old work friends. They met a group of Brenda's friends at a restaurant not far from the park. She came home just beaming.

Brenda retired from the phone company in 2001 and she has managed to maintain those relationships for all of these years even after we began to travel.

When we left for dinner, I had laid the camera down and forgot to pick it up. So therefore no pictures.

Cyndi took a few pictures and I hope that she sends them onto us.

Wonderful "Boomer Gathering"

I took the rig over to Cut & Shoot on Friday. A lot of the Boomers were already there. I was taken to our site, and started to hook up to the utilities. Bob came over to greet me and therefore the hook ups were delayed while I visited with him and others. We got to see some folks we hadn't seen in a while and meet some of the Boomers we hadn't met.
This was our last "Boomer" gathering with Jay & Stella as hosts. We are on the road again before Jay and Stella's retirement party in March.

Brenda got there about 6pm, from work, just in time to leave for dinner. We went to the Golden Corral. It is a buffet and the food was good.

The weather was good and pleasant during the day. Saturday morning started nice but turned off cloudy. We were all expecting rain although none came. We all spent the day visiting and having a good time.

Pot luck dinner was Saturday night and Camping world furnished the meat. They had sent a salesman over with his family to camp with us and the had brought a new MH for us to look at. Jay has done some business with CW, and they have decided to support our little group. There were 22 rigs there for a total of over 50 people.

Ted and Donna had some trouble with their truck, so they had to cancel bringing their trailer over. They did come Sunday and spend the day with us.

Ted wanted to go skeet shooting and asked if I would like to come along. He shot and I watched. I had never seen skeet shooting and enjoyed watching some pretty good marksman hit that little fast moving target.

We came back to Timber Ridge Monday morning I set up the MH while Brenda did laundry.
We had relearned the game Pegs and Jokers over the weekend, and asked our neighbors, Mike and Sally, if they wanted to play. We played three games and enjoyed the company.

It is back to work today for a full week of work. Next week we are going to Coushata with a group from Rayford Crossing, so another short week of work. (Oh, darn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) We are retired after all.

Back at Timber Ridge

We returned to Timber Ridge on Monday after a wonderful week with friends at Rayford.
Several of our Boomer friends were at the park and we made some new acquaintances while were there. I went to have coffee with the guys who are wintering at the park, on a couple of mornings. We tried to solve the worlds problems, but alas, to no avail.

The new year party was very nice. The food was very good and the band was pretty good. The rally room was full with partyers, most in the themed 70's costumes.
We drove over to Timber Ridge to work most every day. I took off Saturday while Brenda went to work, to spend time with Jay, Stella, Ted & Donna. We all went chair shopping at Lazy Boy, but no one bought anything.

Ted and Donna were going to leave Sunday, but decided to stay and leave Monday (ain't retirement great). Jay and Stella were going to go to Dickinson, but decided to leave on Monday. We all got together and played Mexican Train, then put some food together and ate. We had a really good time.

Our camera died, just out of warranty. I tried to find a way to fix it myself, online, but, I did find what seemed to cause the problem. Don't put one of those small digital cameras in a snug fitting case. It restricts the movement of the lens and causes the camera to fail. The sides of our case is soft and it appears that the camera can be turned on while still in the case. We have lost 2
cameras in the last year.

Our electric bill for December was outrageous. After we returned home I plugged in the motor home. I watched the wheel on the meter spin very fast. There was nothing on in the MH, save the converter. I turned everything off and the meter stopped. I then proceeded to turn things back on. in the breaker panel . When I got to the converter the meter started spinning very rapidly. My neighbor suggested that maybe something was wrong with the house batteries. I tested the batteries and sure enough they would not hold a charge so the converter was constantly trying to charge the batteries. They lasted 6 years, and I got the new ones for a good price. I have been watching the meter and the usage has dropped to one third of what we have been using.
