Exhausted from get togethers.

The last 2 weeks have been a whirlwind for us. My sister, Rena , came in on the 17th. We had a cookout for her birthday at,another sister, Vickie's house. I came home that afternoon and my brother-in-law and sister-in law had arrived from Houston. (10 hour drive)

Monday morning I spent visiting with Val and Tony(Houston troop). Adam showed up about 11:00 with the last member of the golf group(Rick's brother,Chris). We all converged at the plant nursery to harass Rick and Alan while they worked. Mike had taken Nancy to her hyperbaric treatment and he arrived after Chris did. By 1:00 everyone had convinced Mike that they needed to get in a golf game that day. After the game, everyone converged on Brian's house and He ordered pizza's for all. Everyone ate heartily and had a good time teasing each other.

Tuesday was a day for 2 rounds of golf. Nancy had graciously made lasagna and salad, plus baked a loaf of bread so we would have garlic bread for dinner. She is a dynamite cook. Everyone came in complaining that their game was terrible, but I did not hear anyone say I give up playing golf.

Wednesday was a day for Tony to visit classmates. Since he had the car I snagged Val and we went to visit Vickie for the afternoon. Vickie had planned a dinner get together at her house for Val and Tony that evening. She made spaghetti and had ravioli (made by OLS church) for dinner.
Vickie is holding 2 dozen ravioli in her freezer for me so that we can enjoy it with our rv friends next month.

I spent the night with Vickie so that I would not have to leave so early in the morning to pick up Heather in Little Rock. We left at 5:30 and only stopped for breakfast at sonic just before we made it to the airport. Heather was waiting patiently. She piled in and said she was exhausted. There were screaming kids all around her. Her sleep button kicked in about a half hour on the road. I was so happy to see her. It was her birthday. I had planned dinner at Brian's house for her. I had originally told her Uncle Tony was fixing spaghetti for her birthday and she kind of hinted that she would prefer ribs. I got the hint and Val and I shopped for ribs on Wednesday, before going to Vickies house. When Heather got to Brians house she had accepted that she was having spaghetti and was surprised to see that Tony was cooking ribs instead. She cried for joy.

Friday was the day before Bev's son's wedding. We had a group of 7 ladies getting manicures and pedicures. We all chose french manicures and pedicures. We were all done by 2:30. We met at Brians house and D.D. and Heather went to the store for chicken wings. We had leftovers with it. I sent Rick home because he was tired and I stayed behind and got a game of mexican train dominoes going. By 10:30 we had to quit because everyone was tired.

On Saturday morning Chris went back to Houston. I had fallen back to sleep that morning so I did not get a chance to say goodbye to him. I hope he enjoyed his stay. Maybe this will turn into a yearly thing.

We spent Saturday cleaning and resting up for the wedding. The wedding was at 7:00 p.m. Quite a few people attended. The bride was beautiful and the groom was handsome. Bev could not have looked any happier. After the wedding the photographer took a group picture of my family with spouses and children included. I am surprised he had a lens big enough for the picture.
The reception was held at the Germantown Country Club. The place was packed with adults attending. No children were there. Everywhere you turned there were drinks and food available. They also had a dj there. It was a wonderful weeding. A good time was had by all.

We started our usual Sunday morning by attending 7:30 Mass at Nativity Church and followed it with breakfast at Bob Evans restaurant. Our breakfast club had 18 members that morning. 3 long tables full. After breakfast we went home for a while and relaxed till around 2pm ,our next get together. Marcus graduated from High School last week so his Mom, Ann(Alan's wife) wanted to celebrate. Heather had been staying there, so she helped Ann and Alan with the preparations.
We had hamburgers and hot dogs. They have a pool but it was too cool to go in. By 8:oo everyone was ready to leave.

Rick and Alan worked on Monday and I went to Alans house to spend time with Heather. Ann, D.D., Vickie, Heather and I played mexican dominoes all afternoon. We started about 1:30 and after several smoke breaks and dinner break we finished around 7.

Tuesday was another work day for Rick and Alan. I dropped my car off at Bev's and we picked up Heather and Ann before Rena was picked up. We all headed to the casino with high hopes of coming back winners. WRONG!! The only winners were Ann and Rena. Oh well, I will try my luck later at some other casino.

Bev wanted Debbie and Dennis to see Heather one more time so she invited everyone to her house for taco salad. She was busy running around getting everything together and got a call from a friend of hers that she was on the schedule to work that night. We still had the get together but neither Richard or Bev were there. Thank goodness we didn't party too hearty there. By the way, that was what we did on Wednesday.

Thursday was a trip to Little Rock to take Heather to the airport. She packed 2 butts in a drink box with 6 bottles of corky's barbcue sauce, taped up the lid. Security did open the drink box and test the bottles to make sure no explosives were there.(they swabbed the outside of the bottles)
We said goodbye to Heather and moved on down the road. By the time Heather called me to tell me she was in Houston we were back home.

Friday was another work day for Rick. We were having problems regulating the water pressure on the hose and I ended up getting a new water hose for the motorhome. I left about 12:30 to shop for the hose and also go to Bev's house for a shower. Today we have a Doctor in the family.
Its official: DR. ERIC M. WEIRICH received his diploma today. Dennis, Donna and his wife Lindsey, are having an open house to celebrate his accomplishments. We wish him well on his journey to becoming an anesthesiologist. We are so proud of you.

Dennis's back yard was full of friends and relatives wishing Eric well.i hated to leave early but the water issue was beckoning me. When I arrived Rick met me at the driveway so he could do the repairs and be able to take a shower. The rest of the night was quiet and peaceful.

Thanks to everyone that helped make these 2 weeks a whirlwind of fun and fellowship. We are counting down the days till we move on down the road. 10 to go,but who is counting

Busy Week

Val & Tony arrived on Sunday (May 17), as scheduled for a weeks visit. It was nice to see them again since we hadn't seen them since Feb.
We worked at the nursery all day and came home about 1/2 hour after their arrival.

We worked at the nursery on Monday and Mike planned to work the whole day. His sons were off for our 2nd annual golf week, so he was talked into quitting early so we could go start our week off earlier than originally planned. Adam arrived after he picked up Chris from the airport, so we all packed up and headed for the course.

We played 18 holes on Monday, 36 holes on Tuesday, 18 holes on Wed., 36 holes on Thursday and 18 holes on Friday. We played Glen Eagle twice and 6 other courses for a variety of play. Some are much harder than others. We try to jam as much golf in as we can in that week. We were all so exhausted by Friday. I really only recovered yesterday. Adam did a great job of arranging the t-times for the different courses.

Brenda & Vickie drove over to LR to pick up Heather on Thursday, who was coming for Tim's wedding and a weeks visit. I haven't seen her in almost a year. We are taking her back to LR for her flight home tomorrow. It has been great to see here, but with golf during the day and going back to work I have not spent as much time with her as I would have liked. Alan and Ann were kind enough to open their home to her. She and Ann have been talking all year planning this adventure.

We have been going to someone's house for dinner every evening all week, extending our days and adding to the exhaustion. The guys were together all day, so the ladies wanted to spend time together, too. This is a very loving family and we all enjoy each others company.

Tim's wedding was very nice. He married a very attractive and smart young lady. I haven't officially met her yet, but I hear great things about her. They have been extremely busy since we have been here with planning the wedding and work. The reception was held at Germantown Country club. It was a nice venue, but more people came then was expected and the seating was limited. Bev and Richard are very popular and it appears so are Tim and Lauren. There were over 300 people at the reception as I heard that 301 RSVP'd and there were not enough places to sit at the beginning.

"The Girls" got together yesterday and made a run down to Tunica to the casinos. Brenda left all of her money there as well as Heather and Bev. I hear that Ann won $40. Brenda said that all had a good time, and that is what counts.

Nancy is feeling better every day. She did remarkably well with the company she and Mike had, considering the short time since her last surgery. She has almost completed her hyperbaric treatments and the healing continues.

Finally Golf

We finally got our schedules together enough to play golf. We played Sunday at Glen Eagle golf course in Millington. It is on the old Naval Air Station. The Navy still has a presence there, and the golf course is maintained by the navy. It is beautiful and well maintained. I didn't do too well since I hadn't played since July last year. I had no one to play with. I enjoy the company of the people I play with. Ted was down in his back while we were in Houston, so he was unable to enjoy the game of golf.

Alan, who was unable to go on Sunday, and I played on Wednesday. I did a little better, but Alan is remarkable. He hadn't played in over 5 months and therefore didn't do too well on the first few holes. I was in awe of him as his game came back and he improved with every hole. Of course he beat my pants off.

Sunday, afternoon we went to Adams house for a Mothers Day celebration. Unfortunately, all of the moms who were invited could not come, but those that did had a good time. Adam and Chrissy went all out with flowers for all of the moms and a cupcake cake in the shape of a purse.

The rain stopped for a while and it warmed up enough to dry out the place where we park the rig, so we moved it on Wed. It now frees up the driveway so Mike can get his jeep out of the garage and there is now more room to park cars. It had been sitting on the driveway for 10 or more days.

Val & Tony are supposed to be here this Sunday and Chris is flying in on Monday. We are scheduled for a week of golf this next week and Chris is coming to join us. Val and Tony are coming for a visit.

Mike ordered parts for the green houses and we are going to be working on them soon. He has to change the covering on gh1, and he is putting in a cooling system in gh2. The greenhouses have been up for several years and the ends on both greenhouses need to be replaced. He thought that this would be a good time to add the cooling system. He plans to take the fan that is in gh2 and add it to gh1, adding extra air flow.

Nancy seems to be improving every day, since her surgery. She has resumed her hyperbaric treatments and the healing seems to be progressing. We continue to pray for her and hope her recovery is complete.

Brakes fixed

Last week we took the coach to Chuck Hutton Chevrolet to have the brakes looked at and fixed. It appears that the left front brake overheated again and we had to have the wheel bearing replaced again. We had the same bearing go out in Denver in 2007. I knew about the right rear, but was unaware of the LF. We also had the brake fluid changed and I had the calipers lubricated back in Houston. I hope that we can get through this trip without mishap.I am saving all of our receipts, so when Navistar does the recall, we hope to get some of our money back. The brakes have become a very expensive issue with our home.

We have been here for almost 3 months and no GOLF. It appears that we are going to play Sunday, finally. Mike's boys and Mike and I have been so busy or our days off don't mesh, or the weather has been bad, so we couldn't get to play. It is only 2 weeks until we have our annual week of golf.I haven't played since last July when we were here last year. Ted had hurt his back, and I didn't have anyone else to play with. I don't play very well, so I don't enjoy playing by myself. I really play for the camaraderie.

Nancy is home and she went to the doctor today to remove some of the accouterments left from her surgery. I hope that she will be able to resume eating after almost a year.

Looking forward to our summer trip. I sent off our weigh-in form to IRV2 for the national rally.
So we are set for that. It will be nice to see Ted and Donna again and a week later seeing Jay & Stella.

We are also looking forward to seeing our daughters, Fred and Lindsay. We will meet them in Idaho on the 12th of August and head back to the Seattle area. Hopefully my son Alex will join us somewhere on our trip to Monroe.
