Our first golf outing

Yesterday, Mike, Alan and I went to Glen eagle golf course and played my first round of golf since returning to Memphis. Mike and Alan had played before we came back this year.
We had a great time and the course is great. It is the old Naval Base golf course that is now open to the public. The fairways and greens are in immaculate shape.
I could tell it had been 11 months since I had played. I was pretty bad. But, the company was really good. And the weather was spectacular.

Our annual May golf outing is canceled this year, due to Nancy's health. Mike won't go and leave Nancy for a week and the rest of us just don't want to do it without him. We just don't feel that it would be the same. There is always next year.

Nancy's oldest sister, Marilyn, will be here today. It will be nice to meet her. She is from Cincinnati and if I heard correctly she will be here for a week.
Dana, Nancy's daughter is here every day and helps Mike with her care. It is nice for Mike to have some help.

We are in our busy time at the nursery. We ship to a new zone on Sunday and the orders have been coming in all winter and spring. It will be a busy day for all 4 of us.
We ship via the USPS, and on Mondays the postal carrier is very busy with shipment. The post office picks up the packages as part of the service.

Alan is off all of this week, so he and I will work tomorrow. There is always allot to do, so we will be busy all day.

Ta ta for now.

Anniversary, Medicare and new grandparents

Things are moving rather slowly here.
Nancy is not improving as hoped, so we canceled the Botanic Garden Show last week so that Mike could spend as much time with her as possible. I am still working 3 days a week and Mike works when there are orders to fill and ship.
Nancy's sister arrived last Sunday for a scheduled visit. She is such a trip. She is so uplifting for Nancy and Mike.
She cooked steak last night on the grill and did a wonderful job. They were delicious and cooked to perfection.

Brenda and I had our 36th wedding anniversary on Tuesday. She and I just went out slumming and had a great lunch together. It was good to spend the time together. We then came home and hung out with Mike, Nancy and Beth.

I am beginning to feel very old. I received my Medicare Card in the mail today. It doesn't go into effect until August so I have a reprieve.
Because I receive SS benefits, I was automatically enrolled in Medicare. I don't have to do anything but pay the premiums when the time comes.

I finally got around to applying for VA medical benefits. I filled out the paperwork on line and printed and mailed them to the VA medical center today.
As those that know me, I have a progressively worsening hearing problem. I hope that I can get hearing aids that work. I had them before and they could never be adjusted to work the way they were purported to be. My hearing did not improve.

It seems that things are settled with the Washington State Park Service. We are volunteering in 2 parks this summer.
They do a background check on all volunteers, so we had to present fingerprints. Mine were accepted on presentation, but Brenda had to have it repeated 2 times. We have not heard about bad fingerprints, so we are assuming all things are good.

As most know, Becky & Fred are going to have another baby in October. We are so pleased as well as Fred's parents. It is a long time coming, and good things come to those that wait.
Lindsay told a friend of hers that she was going to be a 'big sister'. He has a big sister and asked Lindsay "why". Kids say the darndest things.

Now this is more like it!

Our second week here was a little less hectic. We worked 3 days last week and I was not so tired. There is still a lot to do every day, but it can be done at a slower pace.
We have a show this coming weekend, but it is a small, 6 hour event. There won't be too much preparation needed.

Nancy has her good days and bad days, and most were good last week. She spent some time visiting with us after work. The weather has been generally nice and she has sat out on the porch with us.
Mike and Nancy had an addition put on their house and that is where the new slab is where we park. There is new sod where we had to walk to get to the MH, and some places that are not complete and still dirt. Mike and I built a walkway over that area, which protects the sod and keeps us out of the mud and dirt. It is really nice.
I still have to configure how to place the sewer hose so that it drains properly and doesn't block the walkway. I'm still working on that and will have it worked out this week.We went to church yesterday at Nativity. We went to breakfast with the "Club" after mass. Most of them were going to the Navy Base for brunch so they had a light snack or just coffee. We were invited to go, but we had invitations to go to Bev's house and Alan and Ann's house for Easter dinner.

One couple from the club, who RV, had had an accident in their MH and had to get a 'new to them' coach.
They had several salespeople looking out for them and they found and purchased a very clean 1999 Monaco Diplomat. This is a nice coach. It is in good shape with fairly low mileage for a DP.
As some of you know, the Diplomat is a pretty high end coach and has some nice amenities.
We are so happy for them.
We had a great time at Bev and Richard's house. We saw some people we had not seen yet this year, and met Richard's sister, Pat and her husband Daniel. They had picked up Richard's dad from his home and brought him to the get together. It was an nice afternoon.

We then drove over to Alan and Ann's house where all of Mike's kids had gathered. Vickie and Vick had been at Bev's and had come over, too.
They had an Easter egg hunt for the kids, and they all seemed to have had a good time finding the plastic eggs.

Saturday, Mike, Jennifer and I pulled, cleaned and shipped 39 orders (409 plants). We did this in just over 6 hours. 3 people can get quite a bit accomplished in a short period of time.
This process is very labor intensive, as each plant has to be processed individually.
it would be nice if people bought whole flats of one item, but that doesn't happen often.
This is a sunrise last Friday. It was spectacular.
It is great to be alive.
Happy Easter to all.
