Getting Excited

We have 6 weeks left here. We have been communicating with Jay and Donna about our up coming trip, west, this summer. We are getting so excited. After much frustration on Donna's part, I was finally convinced for the need for reservations for a limited number of parks. I really don't like to use email as a major form of communication, as I think it leads to misunderstandings. I much prefer to discuss in person, but use a phone when distance prohibits that.

I have had itchy feet for several weeks now and look forward to getting on the road. The company (Ted & Donna, Jay & Stella) is also a plus.

We are taking the coach to have the brakes examined and have any work done on them that is deemed necessary. I know we need at least one ABS sensor and since the Brakes have overheated at least 3 times since we have had the coach, I am having the brake fluid replaced. Hopefully they can get it completed in a day or two. I don't feel comfortable taking the coach on a 7000 mile trip and have issues with the brakes. I believe that we are doing what we can to prevent further break problems until Navistar & Bosch initiate a campaign to permanently fix the brakes.

If they have to keep the coach overnight or longer Brian & DD have graciously agreed to have us stay with them. Ain't family great??????????

Nancy is hopefully coming home from the hospital today, after some pretty extensive surgery. We don't feel comfortable imposing on Mike & Nancy so soon after her return home.

I'm not alone anymore

Brenda returned Monday after 11 days away in Seattle.
There was bad weather in Houston, a lay over for her return trip to LR. The flight was delayed several hours in Seattle, so she would miss her connection to LR. She phoned Donna, after unsuccessfully trying to reach my sister. Ted and Donna gracefully agreed to pick her up at the airport, feed her and give her a place to lay her tired head for the night. Ted worked his magic and got Brenda's ticket changed so she could come directly to Memphis and alleviate the need to rent a car to drive from LR.

Since Brenda was not able to come home Sunday as planned I was invited to Brian and DD's home for dinner. Mike, Nancy, Adam and his Family, Alan and 2 of his boys were also there. After the long weekend and busy Sunday it was nice to not have to fix something for dinner.

We had many orders to fill for shipping from the nursery (51 orders, 425-450 plants). I was unable to leave to pick Brenda up so her sister, Vickie, was kind enough to pick her up and bring her home. What a lovely family and friends we have. I did not get home from the nursery until after 10:30 pm. A 14 hour day, UGH and I thought I was retired. Mike and Nancy had to go to Nashville Tuesday, the Botanic Garden Show was this past weekend, so all of the orders had to be pulled and packed Monday. We also had to put the plants we didn't sell back into the greenhouses. All in all a very busy day.

Nancy is having her surgery today in Nashville. She had to be examined by the anesthesiologist on Tuesday prior to the procedure. We wish her good luck and pray for a steady and skilled hand in the surgeon.

We went to Brenda's sister Bev's home yesterday to do 2 weeks of laundry. She insists that we use her w & d and not go to a laundromat. Having so much of our family here means we have many places to do laundry. We were invited and stayed for dinner, then Brenda stayed and played bunco. I went on home and Bev brought Brenda home about 10:45pm.

It seems that WH is not going to officially do a recall campaign for several months so I will have the brakes checked & fixed here before we leave on our summer trip. It appears that WH will reimburse any expenses on the brakes. I am planning to try to find a WH authorized Service Center here today.

Good News

After many months of investigation, reporting and a lot of money spent, Workhorse has decided that there is a problem with the hydraulic brakes on W20 & W22 chassis.
We have a W22 chassis and we have had our share of brake problems. I read on Irv2.com this morning that Navistar (owner of Workhorse) has issued a recall on W20 & W22 chassis.
I started to have the brakes worked on again last week, but after reading on Irv2 that a decision was close, I decided to wait. This will save us up to $2000 in service charges.
I am very glad that Navistar has stepped up and has taken responsibility for this problem.
I now have to find a Workhorse authorized service center here in Memphis. I also have to wait for a letter from Workhorse notifying us of the recall.

Home Alone

Brenda has been gone almost a week, now. I took her to Little Rock to catch her flight to Seattle.
Bev, her sister went with us so that I would not be alone on the way back. It was very thoughtful of her, but that is just the way she is. She is one of the most giving people I have ever met.
Brenda actually beat us back to Memphis, as her flight came through here to Seattle. She couldn't just catch the flight here, she had to board in LR.. It would have cost $200 more to catch the flight here. how stupid (What ever happened to customer service?). I miss her and talk to her everyday.
Mike and I are preparing for the Botanic Garden Show this weekend. Mike's son, Alan, and I pulled all of the plants for the show, on Monday. We pulled around 120 flats (18 plants to a flat) along with several others in 1, 2 & 3 gallon sizes.
After the MG Spring Fling, Mike decided to buy a 16 ft utility trailer to carry everything we need for the show. It will carry racks, plant, office supplies and we will be able to store all of the hardware needed in one place.
The trailer arrived on Friday and we spent Saturday configuring the layout of the hardware (racks). We installed tie down points on the walls and floor. The trailer is going to make transportation, setup and tear down so much easier. Every show we go to, we learn something to make the process easier. Don't get me wrong, it is still a lot of work and very time consuming. But, we are so much better prepared for this show as opposed to any show I have helped Mike with so far.
Cleo and I are "batching" it. She is letting me comb her now. I am not as talented as Brenda, but she actually let me comb her for about 5 minutes. I really think she misses 'her momma' as much as I do.
Yes, I will keep the home fires burning until Brenda returns.
