I have just tried to apply for jobs online for Kohls, Macy's, burlington coat Factory and several other places. When I fill out the information about being interested in a position, I get bombarded with calls about furthering my education. Not one call was from a store wanting to interview me for a position. I am so sick of getting calls on my cellphone about going back to school.
When I was growing up, You showed up at a business in your sunday best clothes. You filled out an application for employment and were possibly interviewed for a position. If you were not interviewed, you waited for them to call you to set an interview up. When you went in for an interview, you were asked "What can you offer to the company?" You would sell yourself to the company by letting them know your skills and experience.
In this day and time, they only want to collect data to send to other companies so that those companies can make money off of you by offering their services for a fee. I have been asked if I want to go back to school on a grant. Do I need a free telephone from the government? Do I have problems with my credit? Do I need better health or car insurance? Why can't they just ask if I want to earn some spending money and forget all of the other silly questions?
I am so frustrated with dealing with the system. Go back to the times when you talk one on one with someone and they determine if you are right for the job.
Thanks for listening to me. Pray that I find the right job for me.
I have now stepped off my soapbox.
