Quite a storm

So Much water it washed this pecan tree right over.

This boat drifted from about 2 or 3 homes north of Mikes house. It was wedged between our car and Mikes truck.

Friday night a storm blew into the Memphis area and stayed for a while.
It rained and rained and rained. I heard on the news that we got 8" officially, but I think we got much more in Bolton.
Mikes house gets some minor flooding when it rains a lot. But, this was ridiculous. We had somewhere near 2 1/2 feet of water flowing around the motor home and around Mikes house.
There was water in our car up to the dashboard. It looks like we will be getting a new car. Yuck, we really liked this one. I just don't trust a car that has been flooded.Luckily we didn't get any water in the coach, but Mike was not so lucky. There was 6-8" all over his first floor.
This is the water mark on the wall just outside of our coach on the garage wall.
This is what is left of our walk after the waters receded. We never found the other 2 pieces.

We had two trucks there that were not under water so we were able to evacuate. We left about 10am and Mike, Nancy and Marilyn went to Dana's house for a while, until other living arrangements can be made. They are going to be out of their house for a few months anyway.

We never lost power for more than just a blink, so we left Cleo at home. We are staying at Bev and Richard's house tonight and heading home tomorrow.
It is raining again here in Bartlett, but it is not steady rain like Friday night and Saturday morning.
The nursery got hit pretty hard also.
Greenhouse 4, which is not covered and open to the weather, was destroyed, There were several hundred plants, and most of them are spread throughout the yard or washed away or in the bottom of the pond. It is quite a mess. There was a ground cloth over the entire area, and it is almost rolled up along the outer edge.

All in all a mess, but we are insured. A minor inconvenience for us, but a major disruption in the lives of Mike and Nancy. She has been uprooted from her home for the last part of her life.

More on the saga later.

Ta ta for now.

Our first golf outing

Yesterday, Mike, Alan and I went to Glen eagle golf course and played my first round of golf since returning to Memphis. Mike and Alan had played before we came back this year.
We had a great time and the course is great. It is the old Naval Base golf course that is now open to the public. The fairways and greens are in immaculate shape.
I could tell it had been 11 months since I had played. I was pretty bad. But, the company was really good. And the weather was spectacular.

Our annual May golf outing is canceled this year, due to Nancy's health. Mike won't go and leave Nancy for a week and the rest of us just don't want to do it without him. We just don't feel that it would be the same. There is always next year.

Nancy's oldest sister, Marilyn, will be here today. It will be nice to meet her. She is from Cincinnati and if I heard correctly she will be here for a week.
Dana, Nancy's daughter is here every day and helps Mike with her care. It is nice for Mike to have some help.

We are in our busy time at the nursery. We ship to a new zone on Sunday and the orders have been coming in all winter and spring. It will be a busy day for all 4 of us.
We ship via the USPS, and on Mondays the postal carrier is very busy with shipment. The post office picks up the packages as part of the service.

Alan is off all of this week, so he and I will work tomorrow. There is always allot to do, so we will be busy all day.

Ta ta for now.
